Poll #917641 What to wear?

As most of my clothes from 1997 are threadbare, skinny or with Oxfam, which of the following should I wear to the Offbeat 10th birthday party?

Manics "If I can shoot rabbits, then I can shoot fascists" t-shirt
Tatty old hooded top with big hole in the back
Nottingham Forest "On loan to division one, one season only, back in '98!" T-shirt
Mr Bump says "moshing can seriously damage your health" T-shirt

I'm a coming, I'm a coming! [Jan. 30th, 2007|10:26 pm]
Having overcome some apoplexy inducing Solo card-acceptence problems, I've finally managed to book a train ticket to Sheffield for Saturday afternoon. Cheapest return costs £57, but two singles were only £25...

Anyway, the upshot of all this public transport geekery is that I'll be in South Yorkshire at half five on Saturday night. Yay!

Jarvis [Jan. 25th, 2007|09:07 pm]
hey Offbeaters, long shot perhaps but wonder if anyone can help?

is there anyone with tickets for Jarvis on the Friday night who might fancy swapping for the Thursday? Charlotte's got me a ticket for Thursday (unless she's managed to pimp it already, in which case this is entirely redundant, but I'll assume not for now) but I can't go cos I'm going to see The Magic Flute with my Dad, I'd been hoping to go on the Friday before Offbeat but it sold out before we found out where to get tickets. so I just thought maybe someone who got Friday tickets before Thursday was announced might prefer to go Thurs and have an unsnipped Offbeat on Fri?

An indiepop night on a steam train! - nr Derby, Sat 28th April [Jan. 25th, 2007|09:48 am]
... we (Offbeat Sheffield) are DJing at this wonderfully twee event in April - quite a way ahead I know, but tickets are apparantly selling VERY fast so you might want to buy now if you want to go... brief details below, more at http://www.myspace.com/indietracks

Indie Tracks - an indiepop night with a difference - live bands and dancing aboard a 1950s steam train!
at the Midland Railway Butterley, Ripley, Derbyshire
Our train contains a fully stocked bar and disco carriage, with music fed through all the carriages.

Join us for our first departure on Saturday 28th April, with two live bands playing in the station:
Pocketbooks - "Pocketbooks are jangly indie, undeniably fey and all glockenspiels, hand claps and boy/girl harmonies - general brilliant ye olde indiepop you don't hear enough of nowadays." (November 2006 - Tasty Fanzine)
Tottie -the simplicity of acoustic guitar well compliments her frank and open lyrics on life, love and the often over looked problems had by nice boys getting into clubs. One to watch for 2007.
Guest DJs on board the train:
Spiral Scratch (London)
Offbeat (Sheffield)
Tasty Fanzine (Nottingham)

Tickets are £8 advance from www.wegottickets.com/event/15019 / or £10 on the door, including train fare.

Times (subject to change)
Arrive from 19:00. Bar open on train
First train departure at 19:45, Tasty Fanzine DJing on board
Back to station for Tottie at 20:45
Second train departure at 21:15, Offbeat DJs on board
Back to station for Pocketbooks at 22:15
Spiral Scratch DJs on-board static train from 23:00
End midnight (extension being sought!)

The Midland Railway Butterley is located in Ripley, about ten miles north of Derby. It is a 'Heritage Railway', running preserved trains, mainly steam. There is ample free parking available, directions and further details about the railway can be found at www.midlandrailwaycentre.co.uk.

A gentle indie nudge... [Jan. 17th, 2007|08:16 am]

Was going to refrain from posting anymore reminders but, what the hell, lets have one for the road.

Listen to The Breakdown today on www.sheffieldlive.org from 4 - 6pm for all / some / none (delete as applicable) of your musical needs.

Farewell all.

Hey people of Offbeat!

I'm making a selection of tracks (a mix folder, if you will) to introduce someone to the sounds of Offbeat, and thought it'd be nice to get the Offbeat community to help me choose. What track(s) do you think should go into it, oh wise ones?

My obvious choices can probably be gleaned from my user profile, so feel free to choose something you think I wouldn't.
